Packaging Première Milan — Play With Finishes

This year, Studio Zak took part in Packaging Première Milan together with DIW Print, presenting Play With Finishes.
Packaging Première is one of the key events in the luxury packaging industry, bringing together brands, suppliers, printers, and studios from all over the world. A space where innovation, trends, materiality, and storytelling come together.
And in the middle of a fair full of samples and technical displays, we wanted to create something people would actually want to interact with.
Not just cards showing finishes.
But objects people would pick up, turn under the light, discuss, collect, photograph, and take with them.
Inspired by traditional Italian playing cards, the series transformed print finishes into part of the storytelling itself. Foils, textures, reflections, and hidden details, every element was designed to invite interaction.
And the response went beyond what we expected.
The stand became one of the most visited throughout the fair. Conversations started naturally around the cards, not only about the finishes themselves, but about storytelling, collectibility, illustration, and how print can create emotional connection.
For DIW, the project generated a significant number of leads and opened new conversations throughout the event.
And that was exactly the intention from the beginning.
To create something that would attract people to the stand, start conversations, and stay memorable long after the fair ended.
Not just showcasing print finishes, but showing how storytelling and interaction can completely change the way people engage with print.
Because at the end of the day, people rarely remember another sample card. But what it made them feel!
